The BBC has just released promotional pictures for the up-and-coming TV drama series, RIVER. Following her recent Emmy-award win for Best Writing, Miniseries or Movie" for "The Hour", Abi Morgan says of her new series: “River is a fractured mind navigating a brutal world. And he does it wearing a police badge. I can’t think of a better home for it than the BBC. The chance to tell big stories in a bold way on a channel that embraces so many writers, directors and actors I admire and respect is a huge treat.” Here are several photos of Stellan in the role of John Rivers:

Other cast members:
Nicola Walker, Lesley Manville, Eddie Marsan and Georgina Rich

Here is the first photo from the upcoming BBC television series, RIVER. In the title role, Stellan plays a brilliant police officer whose genius and fault-line is the fragility of his mind - a man haunted by the murder victims whose cases he may lay to rest. No premiere date has been annnounced.

From Crime Time Preview (8/14/15):
Casting Stellan Skarsgärd as a British detective was a bold but canny move by the makers of this intriguing thriller. If you want a performer who can play a troubled soul, then who better than a man from the land of long winter days and Ingmar Bergman, a director whose fave themes were death, bleakness and insanity?

Death is also the theme of "River" and Skarsgärd, also a Swede, familiar from movie hits such as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "Mamma Mia!" He is terrific in this unusual series as Detective Inspector John River, a cranky cop traumatised by the shooting of his partner.

Wow, this summer has been quiet for Skarsgård news. As of this date, Stellan has no future projects so there's still not much to report. I have added two more movie pages to this web site - WIND (1992), starring Matthew Modine and Jennifer Grey and NO GOOD DEED (2002), starring Samuel L. Jackson and Milla Jovovich.

Alex & Alexa? Yes, it's apparently true. Eldest son Alex is dating 32-year-old Alexa Chung, a British model, heralded as the new Kate Moss. The couple have been a twosome  since February. Alex can be seen in "The Diary of a Teenage Girl". In the movie, a coming-of-age drama set in the '70s in San Francisco, the True Blood alum plays Monroe, a man dating a woman named Charlotte, played by Kristin Wiig. He ends up having a sexual affair with her 15-year-old daughter. The film has received great reviews and is presently earning a 95% on the Rotten Tomatoes meter.

Here are the latest photos of Stellan's only daughter, 23-year-old Eija, who still thinks it's cool to smoke! You'd think she would have been traumatized by her own mother's struggle with cancer.

And this next photo was probably taken last year. It's Stellan's family and I believe he has now become a grandfather. Ah, mothers and their children. I love it! It was found on one of those brain-less tumblr web sites with anonymous users.  In the back row is Bill, Sam holding his baby, Alex holding Ossian, Valter and Eija. In the front is Gustaf, My (Stellan's first wife) and Megan holding Kolbjörn. The only one missing is Sam's wife, Sanna.
